I receive a lot of press releases every day from PRs and Brands who would like me to write about them on my blog. As I’m sure you can imagine, not all of them catch my attention! There are however a number of gems that stand out and make me pay attention. I was recently alerted
to the findings from The Great Australian Sex Census 2011/2012, conducted by redhotpie.com.au, and they definitely peaked my interest.
The Great Australian Sex Census was complied based on 15,000 respondents (50% increase on the 2009/2010 survey).
A snapshot of the results, which were launched on 27th March 2012 include:
– Threesome’s are our number one sexual bucket list item
– Farmers have the largest penis size 6.9 inches
– Over 30% have had more than 21 partners in their lifetime
– Only 22.9% are happy with their sex life
– WA is the home of home-made porn : over 40% have been videotaped having sex.
I had the fantastic opportunity to chat to EMMA MARKEZIC (Cosmo sex columnist, author/comedienne) about her thoughts on the results of the survey and her ‘bucket list’ fantasy!
How do you find Australian men Vs British men?
Aussie men like to be blokes, British men like to be lads – and both of them are pretty bad at asking women out. I actually think they should all take a cue from American men – I never thought I’d say it but they generally know how to treat a lady without the boyish bravado.
Are you surprised by the stat that only 22.9% are happy with their sex life?
When more Australians are happy with their telecom provider than their sex life, you know something’s up. Perhaps sex is the new white picket fence and the grass is just greener on the other side? Or perhaps we’re all just too busy to get busy? Either way, your love life really is in your hands – literally and metaphorically – so it’s up to you to increase the quantity and/or quality.
What would be your bucket list item?
Sex with the father of my children… I just have to find him first. Oh, and also in outer space.
What was your most shocking stat from the survey?
That we’re surprisingly fast movers. Almost a third of people have sex with a new partner after just one date. I think that well and truly puts the three date rule to bed… As well as the person themselves, apparently.
