Love/ break up songs keep stronghold on ARIA charts

Adele and Gotye remain untouched on ARIA Charts…

Isn’t it funny how certain songs evoke certain reactions in different people, in particular I’ve been surprised to see how Gotye and Adele’s heartbroken songs have evoked a strong reaction that is relatable to by so many people.

Reaching an epic twenty weeks at the ARIA Album Chart pinnacle this week is Adele’s ground-breaking album “21”, which joins Shania Twain’s 1999 record “Come On Over” as the fourth longest-running chart-topper in ARIA Chart history!
The ARIA Singles Chart sees Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” featuring Kimbra hold at the peak for the eighth consecutive week, to become the longest-running Australian chart-topper since Savage Garden’s 1997 hit “Truly Madly Deeply” (a personal fave of mine!!!!), which also chalked up eight weeks at the top. “Eagle Rock” from Daddy Cool was the last Australian single to achieve a greater run at the top, occurring back in 1971.
